Buckminsterfullerene 2: unit cell within the bulk

The structure to the left marks out the unit cell with a black wireframe. These black lines are not supposed to represent chemical bonds of any sort or connect any particles, but rather to map out the volume of the repeating unit in the structure. Note that the unit cell is cubic and that the buckyballs are occupying face-centres. In other words the buckyballs are adopting a structure analogous to copper.
